How rude!

I went to Barnes & Noble today during my lunch break and found garbage in the parking lot. There were at least two or three separate instances. What I saw weren’t bags of trash thrown randomly. These were half drunk bottles of orange juice or cups of soda, covered with their lids, and placed carefully on the white lines between parking spots.

My guess is that some people don’t want garbage in their cars, even for the duration of the trip home from wherever they go during the day. So, rather than keep a garbage bag in their cars, or walking the 35 steps from their parking space to the trash cans set out on the sidewalk by Barnes & Noble, they simply open their car doors and let the rest of us live with their trash.

I suppose if I were more high-minded, I would have something constructive to say to these people. Perhaps I could remind them of the basic decency a civilized society relies on. Or, perhaps I could remind them of that commercial from years ago where the old Indian guy had a tear running down his face after seeing all the litter thrown carelessly in the street. But, I’m not feeling good-natured about the whole thing. So, all I’ve got to say is this.

Die, why don’t you!
